Subject: Labels? My church just goes by the Bible |
Bible Note: Hello Ed, I think your statement, "The real question should be what was Christ's desire for the church? Was it not unity?", supports the need of clear statements of belief. When I chose to become a member of my denomination I attended what is called an "inquierers" class. I learned precisely what the church believed and why they believed it. I was shown the scriptural foundation and was persuaded by the evidence. This class lasted 3 months (appox 12 sessions). Absent this class, it may have taken years for me to glean this information from sermons and Bible studies alone. Having said that, I hasten to say that I have not come to 100 per cent agreement with each and every point in the WCF. But I can say that I know for certin what my denomination holds to be the the truth of God's Word. John |
