AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 1:10 ¶ But I urge you, believers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in full agreement in what you say, and that there be no divisions or factions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your way of thinking and in your judgment [about matters of the faith]. |

Bible Note: Radioman2 I don't see this as an option I see this as a mandate. Man has turned this into an option and therefore never really seeks a total solution. In fact in most cases they pick up their ball and go home (start a new denomination). Jesus called us to unity, for us to be in unity we have no choice than resolve the issue. That may mean someone is going to have to find a tie breaking scripture that proves one point or another or even give a new position. While we may agree to disagree which sounds so nice and civilized this is not what Jesus told us to do. He told us to be in unity for we are all in one body. You ask who will we pick to be the decision maker / tie breaker. I say if it is important the Bible will break the tie if it isn’t important it should not be a point of discussion much less division. I contend Satan is having a field day bringing up points that we shouldn’t even be concerned with and watching us divide over it. He knows united we stand divided we fall. To do this we have to decide to follow Christ instead of our pride, our prejudices, our “church doctrine” , our way of looking at it. Men through out church history have settled major disputes, then we got intellectual, enlightened, self rationalizing and we stopped settling disputes. We left what was worth fighting for and started something new. When this was done in the past a division was rare and the new was considered heresy and was opposed by the church. As of late it is considered the norm and because we don’t want to step on any toes we call them different but in agreement on essential doctrines. EdB |
