NASB | 1 Corinthians 1:10 ¶ Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 1:10 ¶ But I urge you, believers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in full agreement in what you say, and that there be no divisions or factions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your way of thinking and in your judgment [about matters of the faith]. |
Subject: How should we respond to heresy? |
Bible Note: My denomination does not require strict adherence on non-essential doctrines. The sole requirement for membership is a person's complete reliance on Jesus Christ for salvation. Then what? It is the calling of the pastor and teaching elders to teach the Word and to answer any questions that concern the doctrines which are particular to our denomination. Problems arise when differences arise in the area of "essentials". In extreme cases, church discipline must be exercised and an unrepentant member may be ex-communicated. John |
