Subject: Who, besides the elect of God,are saved? |
Bible Note: Joe "Did you miss my earlier post? I acknowledged that people do indeed (wrongly) take elements of Reformed theology and justify disobedience to Christ. Reformed theology as a whole mitigates against such a life, but some take the parts they like to support inactive spiritual lives." No I did not miss it but when I mentioned it you accused me of “mud slinging”. Joe your slick and your whole tactic since your point can’t be proven is to make your opponent appear stupid, malicious or vindictive. Please don’t insult me or intelligence of others on this forum by piously telling me to examine the motive of my heart. Let him without sin cast the first stone. Changing scriptures you have never done this. Let's look at the word "all" it no longer means “all” it means “all the elect”. The word "world" it means the “world of the elect”. Let's look at the word "elect" it not longer describes a position it becomes an action. The word “whoever” does not mean whoever but instead the chosen few. The word “believe” it no longer comes from the pisteou but means to understand and comprehend the gospel. Oh yea you didn’t do that John did. When I mention Calvin's history which you don't anyone to know you tell me I disparaging the man. Yet you freely give Durant's history as a service. Joe your are not examining anything, your here to prove your point at any cost. Let the truth be known if your honest enough to admit it. None of this glorifies Jesus and that is what and everyone else is complaining about. But when you and John insist on presenting Calvinism as the only truth in nearly every thread we have to draw a line and say enough is enough. Calvinism is one viable hypothesis, it is not the only one. It is not proven therefore not universally accepted. There are many others equally viable and equally un-provable. Wiser men than you and I have HONESTLY debated this subject for hundreds of years. I have heard arguments from both sides from men I truly respect and still none in my opinion, or the opinion of far spiritual men than you or I, does an adequate job in explaining this subject. There is always remains violation of scripture or debate over interpretation or some loose string that just can’t quite be snipped, a violation of God’s nature or general corruption of the overall theme of scripture. Neither side has made any inroads in convincing the other so what is the point? If anything the relationship between you, I and others has been damaged. That ought not to be. We came here as brothers in Christ, by your own words we have become adversaries. Calvin was a good man, but he was just a man. What should be debated is the doctrine of Jesus Christ not the doctrine of man. This is the Bible Study forum, not the forum to study Calvin’s hypothesis or any other doctrine of man. EdB |
