Subject: how to be saved |
Bible Note: John, This is an excellent list of related verses, but how do you tie them in with John chapter 3? What comes first, being born again or accepting Jesus? Your explaination seems to be: being born again comes first by election after hearing the Gospel. Please don't be offended, but it seems that Jesus could have told Nicodemus "You must be elected" instead of "you must be born again". If Romans chapter 9 did not have to be reconciled with Romans 10:9 then I would just have to believe only election was being taught. I know you are probably tired of these subjects, but I am always pondering these things from scripture to scripture. The way I see it is that scripture is saying that: 1. the heart of man is desprately wicked, but he IS capable of making ONE choice in his heart and confessing Jesus with his mouth. 2. He is then born spiritually again by God through the Holy Ghost. 3. As long as he continually chooses to walk in the spirit, he does not walk "according to the course of this world", but he can still choose to walk in the flesh. I believe in election only in the sence that God knows who will accept Jesus by His foreknowledge. I do not wish to start something that will lead to bad feelings so if you choose not to discuss this I will understand. Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." God bless, Pastor Glenn |
