Bible Note: Dear Brian, It is apparent that we have our work cut out for us! :-O Nevertheless, "a journey of a 1,000 miles begins with a single step". And in that spirit, I would like to set off by addressing certain mis-conceptions that have led to incorrect conclusions, which you have come to believe as inevitable on the behalf of those who espouse calvinistic doctrines. 1)"...you adhere to the fatalism of man being born in Adam's sin...". Fatalism is defined by Webster as: "The doctrine that all things are subject to fate." Calvinism is not fatalistic. We do believe that all things which occur, occur for the reason that God has pre-ordained them to be, and so they will happen. Now I don't pretend to understand the unsearchable mysteries of God, but I do know that this is what the Word of God teaches: EPH 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will. ROM 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! HEB 6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath. ROM 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
