Bible Note: Hi Gracefull, My copy of Strong's for #1968 differs from what you wrote. You wrote: Strong's 1968 2. metaph. 1.to fall upon one i.e. to seize, take possession of him a. of the Holy Spirit, in his inspiration and impulse My Abindon Strong's reads: 1968. epipipto, from 1909 and 4098; to embrace (with affection) or seize (with more or less violence; lit. or fig.): --fall into (on, upon), lie on, press upon. The Person of the Holy Spirit does not take possesion of us or control us, do you think? 1) You wrote:"I do not believe the Holy Spirit infilling was ever supposed to be considered 'optional' for the believer, and scripture seeems to indicate (as I believe) it is something to be received after salvation." So my question is again, "Do we receive the baptism (the infilling) or do we receive the Holy Spirit?" You wrote that "it" was something to be received after salvation. From the heart, Ray |
