Subject: What is the context? |
Bible Note: Scripture ... 1 CorĀ 12:28 "And God has appointed in the church, FIRST apostles, SECOND prophets, THIRD teachers, THEN miracles, THEN gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues" Verses 29-30 follow the same order ... and adds "All do not interpret" Verses 8-10 lists togues next to last ... then verse 11 says "But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills." ... which to me means He decides who gets which gifts. Therefore tongues is a lesser gift ... look at the order and the words FIRST ... THEN. 1 Cor 13:1 says "tongues of men and of angels" not "tongues of men OR angels". -The angel spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai (Act 7:38). -The Law was put into effect by angels (Act 7:53). -The tongues of angels is special because of what it delivers! God showed Himself through angels (Gal 3:19, Heb 2:2-3). When angels spoke, the hearer understood. I have the gifts of teaching and discernment. ---- Is is you who are twisting words. - Matthew 7.9 may be your reference ... but, you need to look at the context ... else it is pretext. Do you think the context of Matthew 18:16 is verses 15-20, which is discipline? I have heard of serveral Bob Jones. I take what I read and heard and match it against the Bible. I even throw away all I know and study Scripture myself ... w/o man's help. Searcher |
