Subject: Does speaking in tongues come naturally? |
Bible Note: Scripture ... 1 Cor 13:1, 14:23 (2-40) ... cajam, greetings ... The reason for Paul to teach the Church in the proper use of the gift of tngues is the Corinthians were got carried away by their emotions rather than acting mindlessly The gift of tongues is a language ... and very ordered and controlled (1Cor 14:2-40) 1 Cor 14:23 Therefore if the whole church assembles together and all speak in tongues, and ungifted men or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are mad? Tongues without interpreters will give people the wrong impression ... ungifted men or unbelievers will hear more than one language. They will see it not an attempt to minister to them. The church was smaller than the Temple. Think back to Pentecost, when some thought they were drunk (Acts 2:13). Then there was no need to interpetation, for the groups of each language probably were gathered together and the disciples went to certain places in the Temple and started to speak in the native language of the hearers, as the Holy Spirit enabled them (vs 4). 1 Cor 13:1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. The tongues of angels is special because of what it delivers! God showed Himself through angels (Gal 3:19, Heb 2:2-3). When angels spoke, the hearer understood. Searcher |
