101 | Revelation Chapter 1 to 3 | NT general Archive 1 | lionheart | 168920
GotJesus2, Good question,You could say both.As I stated in my first posting to your original question this was a time in the first century church when they were undergoing extreme persecution, yes John was addressing the conditions in the church at that time, these same issues are still issues in todays church,so there is still wide application for today also. People ask many times when are the last days, you could say we have been in the last days since Pentecost. So yes Revelation is prophetic about the end times. We can be confident and take heart that the ultimate victory will be God's and those who have stood faithful to him will be richly rewarded.Revelation is an awesome book filled with much wisdom and hope for God's people. pukalanian or Should I say VinceBlaze, You are obviously an individual of some learning and inteligence. Deciete becomes no one and that's not what this forum or those who regularly participate are about. Why do you believe what you believe? You ask Mark why he fears your answers? I might ask what it is you fear? Everyone who has replied to your postings has been honest upfront and forthright with you. It's clear that you dont believe but why? This forum as long as I've been involved has been about faith, encouragement, education and helping eachother. It's never been about endless arguments or trying to promote one theology over another. On big reason many of us participate in this forum is because we care an not because we think one knows more than another. Now tell us,what can we all learn from you? How do we get to know you? I dont see you as the bad guy,I dont have the right to make that judgement. None of does. You aparently know more about those of us who have communicated with you than we know of you. So how about you step up to the plate and give us a chance to get to know you a little. You will not find judge, jury or executioner here, just a bunch of folks trying and doing what we can to help eachother make it to heaven and be as faithful to God as we can be while God still gives us the time. In Him, lionheart |

103 | 1 Thes 5:21, Test All Things | NT general Archive 1 | lionheart | 174833
pukalanian, Forgive me fore not getting back to you Sooner. What you are may not be important to some folks, but is important to God and aught to be important to you. It's your eternal destiny that may or may not be in question and that is important not only to yourself but to those God will almost assuredly bring into your life. Whoever you are is important to allot of people, especially those of us who want to get to know you. So whoever you are pukalanian or VinceBlaze let the real you step forward. There are know secrets here, you are more than welcome to check out my user profile,as a matter of fact I would welcome it. If you want to know more about me or what makes me tick feel free to ask. There is nothing I'm not willing to share on this forum or anyone else,ya just gotta ask. I believe this is the cocenes of a good number of individuals here on the forum. I wont point any fingers here I'll just point them at myself. For me to represent myself as someone when I'm somebody else is deceitful. There is no shame in people knowing who you are. I look at it this way,The people that God brings into my life will still be there in spite of who I am. The bible even tells us that God is no respecter of persons and we shouldnt be either. I look forward to getting to know you better and hopfully with grace of God we can work through some of these things together. In Christ, lionheart |

105 | Feed the hungry before sharing the Word | NT general | lionheart | 197567
godsavs, In principle this can be sound, but in many cases not doable and there will betimes we can do that. Take a look at the Gospels and what Jesus did when he was reaching out to people.Take a look at the parable of the good Samaritan. It's a matter of heart. Jesus said it so well whwen he said- Greater love has no man than he lay down his life for a friend. This goes way beyond just dieing for someone it also speaks to our heart in serving and sacrifice for people. When folks see that you are genuinely concerned for them and not just trying to push religion then you will see fruit. It's not necessarily what we are saying but what we do that will turn the tables and what we do can and does reflect our walk with God. In Him, lionheart |

106 | Scriptural foundation | NT general | lionheart | 197602
godsavs, Should have done this the first time. Take a look at John 15:13 I believe this verse says allot about where our hearts have gotta be. Jesus life was the perfect example of this and I assure you this went way beyond him going to the cross. His entire life exemplified this verse. This can be a bedrock scripture for all of us. When we reach out to the lost and to each other with this attitude of heart we will see God move. In Him, lionheart |

107 | could raised refer to spiritual birth? | NT general | lionheart | 201242
holyours, Good to have you with us. Often a simple word study will help clarify our understanding of certain words or phrases. How a word or phrase is used can make a difference in what we are reading. Here are a few of the usages of the word raised. 1. anistemi- To get up, stand up, come back to life. 2. egeiro- To heal, raise to life. 3. epairo- to lift up. 4. synegeiro- Raised with. These are some examples of what I'm trying to convey here. I'm not a greek scholar as some of my compatriots here on the forum but I manage to stumble my way through. If you have a concordance you can look all this up and it'll give you the scripture references you need. I hope this helps. In Him, lionheart |

108 | Jesus spoke with authority!!! | NT general | lionheart | 215423
humility, Good day brother, Jesus spoke as one having authority because he had it, all of it. The problem with the scribes and pharisee's is that they taught out of the hardness and hypocressy of there own hearts and not from the love and authority fo God's Word given them and of course they would not recieve Jesus as Messiah. 110 | baptism | NT general | lionheart | 227429
Legs, The Bible doesn't teach re-baptism. Baptism is personal, our salvation is personal but it is a commandment of God. It was commanded by Jesus Himself. Refer to scriptures That Paulus gave you.Look at Acts 2:38 and Romans 6. Now with that said keep this in mind. The focus of baptism is on Jesus Christ. 1PT 3:20,21. But it's part of the whole where our salvation is concerned. Without faith,God's grace and understanding that it's not by our effort but it all hinges on what God has done for us in His Son Jesus Christ and what our response to the message of the Gospel. It's not just about getting to heaven but being right with God. In Him, lionheart |

112 | Murder of the Innocents? | Genesis | lionheart | 162121
Rats Feet, Lets be clear about one thing here,God never told Abraham to kill his son. In Genesis 22:2 God is telling him to go to a place he would direct and offer up Issac as a burnt offering. In Genesis 22:7,8 when asked by Issac where the lamb for the sacrifice was Abrahams reply was that God would provide. We see that at what seamed like the last moment God did provide. Now this may be pure speculation on my part but I believe that Abraham believed God would raise Issac again if he actually did sacrifice him. In answer to the second part of your question, why do you think God would make that kind of comand? It wasnt because he hated these people, not at all. To allow these nations to continue in the wickedness they were practicing would have placed his people and ultimately future generations in jeopardy. So God is not condoning murder here but taking steps ensure his plans for you and me through all eternity. In Christ, lionheart |

113 | What is he time frame of Melchizedek? | Genesis | lionheart | 164878
Lelah-Ann, God bless you and welcome to the forum. A good question.I had not given it a lot of thought,Melchizedek even though we dont hear a whole lot about him but he is a very important figure in biblical history, particularly in light of Hebrews 5:6. So I cracked the books last night and my best guesstimate here and I wont etch this in stone, but appears to be between 1,000 and 1,900 B.C. This is best guess on my part, there are others who are far more knowledgeable in this area than myself and they may be able to help you also. In Christ, lionheart |

115 | Did God have to be Reminded of His Promi | Genesis | lionheart | 224610
barret, Greetings and welcome to the forum. First of all it will help to go back and do a little review. Genesis 32 and 33 give acount of Gods giving of the Ten commandments and the peoples response. So with all that in mind I'll say this. God didn't need to be reminded of his promise he was and is quite aware of them. The people were into major sin and of course God was majorly piqued. Now here is God's man Moses who has been making intercession for the people. Thats what our Lord does for us today. Moses didn't have to remind God of anything. What he did was to stand faithfull to God and his promises. In Him, lionheart |

118 | Loving God with all your heart | Gen 1:1 | lionheart | 171353
NightJay0044, A few words of encouragement for you brother. You found God when you were saved. Jeff's answer to your question was right on the money. I don't know if any of us can or do everything we can. We blow it every day. But if we have the heart of going after him with everything we have we will be close to God. Let me encourage you with a few sciptures here, I think they will help.Acts 17:26-29 God is never far from any of us. Colossians 1:27- You cant get any closer than this. Jerimiah 29:11-14a God is there,we gotta have the heart and faith to reach out to Him.God doesnt go away. We do at times when we turn our backs on Him. But the great thing is we can repent-1 John 1:9. 2 Timothy 2:15,Luke 18:1- Get quality time in Gods Word every day and pray, pray, pray. Our emotions and feelings are no gaurantee for truth, we can get fooled by them,But if we keep our focus on God and His Word the odds of that happening go way down. Stay strong brother and know that God is good to all his promises. Read Psalm 119 you will gain much assurance and encouragement. In Christ, lionheart |

120 | Is this the beginning of The Way? | Gen 1:3 | lionheart | 172522
n.m.i.c, Greetings and welcome to the forum. It is always important to note context and usage in any study of God's Word we choose to endevor on. In Genesis 1:3,4 Clearly refers to day and night. As you read through the Old Testament,Gospels, and New Testament you will notice numerous coralaries and examples. In the Genesis passage you used is the hebrew word or-light, In John 8:12 we have the greek word phos-light. If you own a good exhaustive concordance, there are a number of them out there, you will be able to find the greek and hebrew words with thier meanings andn explenations. It will help you to find your way through things. Getting back to where we were at we can see the coralery (light)with the Genesis passages And John 8:12. Light dispells darkness. My question to you is what do you mean by the beginning of holiness? The Way if you are refering to the church was on Pentecost. In Christ, lionheart |
