1 | Is this the 'Complete Christian'? | NT general Archive 1 | Brian.g | 24253
I have two questions: 1st: Which of the following 12 statements in the Profession of Christian Faith does any Christian in this forum, NOT believe or takes exception to: 2nd: Are there any additional requirements to being saved, which are not addressed within these 12 statements. 1. I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. 2. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord 3. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. 4. Jesus Christ suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. 5. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. 6. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. 7. From thence, He will come again to judge the living and the dead. 8. I believe in the Holy Spirit 9. I believe in the Holy Universal Church of Christ. 10. I believe in the forgiveness of sins. 11. I believe in the resurrection of the Body. 12. I believe in life everlasting Everyone's comments would be appreciated Brian |

Brian, since you specifically requested my comments on the 12-point profession of faith, for which I thank you, I'm happy to oblige, though you won't be much impressed, I dare say, by my scant remarks. I recognize what you posted as being essentially the Apostles' Creed dressed up in a new suit of more modern words and diction than the one I learned some 40 years ago. I believe it did justice to the faith then and does justice still. It was hammered out long ago with painstaking care by devout men who wanted to get it right. I believe they did. --Hank

5. He descended into hell. Did this ever get resolved, did He or didn't He? I remember Copeland taught yes and wasn't this one of his false teaching? Brain, I believe all that except for the question on #5. The thing is, if Cath stuck to that, it would be OK but it's all the branching out that gets them into trouble. :) I believe a Cath can still be a Christian, but question why would a Cath who is a Christian would want to stay there? If you were a Mormon and became a true follower of Jesus, you'd have to get out, same w/Islam, Hindu, etc. Of course there are other Chriistian denom that are questionable today too, they started out right but have fallen intro apostacy. Any church, whether it's a whole demon. or just a rouge church that teaches apostasy-get out!!! |
