1 | Is this the 'Complete Christian'? | NT general Archive 1 | Makarios | 24280
Greetings Brian! I agree on all 12 points! In fact, I used to recite those 12 points in what is known as "The Apostle's Creed" in the United Methodist Church, while I was a member there. I agree with all of these points. In fact, on point #9 we used to say, "I believe in the Holy catholic church." (The word 'catholic' in this sentence meaning 'universal.') I certainly cannot find any fault in any one of the 12 points, except for maybe saying "born of the virgin Mary", but I was never too fond of overly scrutinizing capitalization. Other than that, I agree! Blessings to you, Nolan |

Ah, another point you and I must agree to disagree on. I say BVM. Blessed Virgin Mary. We love our Mary. Just curious, but do you also use the Nicene Creed in your church? Hugs, Lisa |

Lisa, indeed you must, as you say, "love your Mary." But can you explain why the Catholic church places so great an emphasis on her? Many Protestants, I among them, feel that Catholics overdo it. The focal point of the Bible points to Jesus. I'm not at all suggesting that your faith doesn't acknowledge Jesus, too, but why all this (undue?) emphasis on Mary? She was, after all, merely human and not divine. And I fail to find any shred of biblical support that she was immaculately conceived.--Hank

Ah, the IC is beyond my grasp as well, Hank. Unless the Lord himself dropped in on the Pope (which I doubt). Ad Jesum Per Mariam. To Jesus Through Mary. To God Through Jesus. I must ask you for a bit of grace, Hank because I'm probably one of those over-doers myself. I hand out Miraculous Medals (designed as seen in an apparition of the BVM) like Halloween Candy. The church came down pretty hard on Marian Devotion. People weren't listening to mass, they were on their knees through the entire service praying the rosary. I think, for some, the fear of God is so great they feel his is unattainable. However, Mary, as you said, is human. Not divine at all. Extremely devoted to God! Much can be learned from her devotion to God and God's will. She knew that her beloved son had to die. How painful it must have been for her. Yet she followed the will of God. How many of us wish for that strength!! Mary says very little in the Bible. Other than Do Whatever He Tells You. What could be better advice? Lisa |

Thank you, Lisa. Mary, humble and devoted though she was, was in need of a Savior, too, the same as you and I. So I hold, and am convinced the Bible teaches, that the way to the Father is through the Son and through no other. Jesus is our High Priest and He alone. Do you not agree? --Hank
