Dear Richard, The post you're responding to is over 7 years old, so I doubt the original poster will reply! I'm not certain of the conclusion you're making? I would suggest- based on a bit of my own study- that those verses of Paul (Gal. 3:27, Col. 2:12, Rom. 6:3, etc) are dealing with spiritual baptism consistent with 1 Cor. 12:13! My own experience tells me most people shrug off spiritual baptism and place more emphasis on the symbolic! The Holy Spirit is the the One Who unites us with Christ! This is the reality. Without it, symbolism is meaningless. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Thank you for responding Im new to this site and I was unaware of how old the question was or how to tell the age of the question. I agree people do get baptised out of duty and because they feel that they have to, and not for the right spiritual reasons like they should. I also agree that the scriptures you posted refer to spirtiual baptism and its true without the spirit the symbolism IS meaningless but like asking Jesus to forgive us we must also take a step forward and be baptised with water and the spirit so that we may enter the kingdom of God. It is my belief that we must act in faith to be cleansed of sin and part of salvation is baptism. | ||||||
