Subject: Saved by belief or belief and baptism? |
Bible Note: Sirs - the word baptism means, emersion or put under. The context of it's use is not always "water". As far as salvation, the obvious example is the thief on the cross, unless you don't consider paradise salvation. Rom 10:9-13 give a clear basic formula for salvation, trust an acknowledgement. 1 Pt 3:18-22 the conclusion here, is not outer washing but an inner appeal "but the answer of a good conscience toward God". Heb 9:14 It is His blood that cleanses the conscience. The book of Galations lays the foundation for Christ alone. And yes, as an act of loving obedience (2 Tim 1:8) disciples are called to a public assoication with Chrsit in "water" baptism. This act is a show of what has taken place in the beliver, not an establishment of it. As we celibrate Easter, remember that Chist's death an resurrection is sufficient. in Christ, rb8 |
