wormwood, I can appreciate what you are saying here, the question arises here, then what was Jesus teaching in Mark 16:15,16 Matthew 28:18-20? What was Peter teaching in Acts 2:38? What was Paul spending so much time and detail on in the first part of Romans chapter 6 and his other epistles? Faith, confession, and repentance are all part of the salvation experience, why is it we want to throw out baptism, something clearly taught by our Lord and the Apostles? If we take any of these things out of the picture do you still have salvation? God gave us the whole pakage, can we afford to not heed any part of it? Forgive me if this a bit long winded. Allow me to paint a senario A man repents and exercises faith in Christ Jesus, and immediately phones the local church, and informs the minister, that he desires to become baptized. The minister says: We are having a baptismal service this evening at 6:30 PM. If you come over this evening, we will baptize you. So this man gets dressed, and heads over to the church to be on time for the service. On his way, he gets in an automobile accident and is killed. You say, oh oh, he left out part of the salvation equation. The question is: Since he never got baptized, will he be sent off to eternal condemnation? NC |

New Creature, Good question. We can speculate and come up with any number scenarios, and we can do this til the crows fly home. Dont we think for one second that if God is calling someone that he's not going to allow that person to get there.2 Timothy 3:16,17 2 Peter 1:20,21. God is the author not me,He gave us the Bible exactly the way He intended for us to have it. I think He covered all the bases. With that in mind I doubt anything our limited minds can think up will stop God in accomplishing his purpose for anyone. Ephesians 3:20 If one makes a concious decision to follow Christ dont think for one minute that God wont get you there. I look back to my own salvation and I see any number of things that could have taken me out and would have taken me out and I could have done nothing about it,God didn't just take me to the thresh hold he brought me all the way in.If he got me there I think he will do no less for anyone else. None of us knows what tomorrow holds for us,that's one of the many reason to trust in God and his providence in our lives. God has laid it all out for us,we have it right at our fingertips in black and white. Ephesians 2:8,9 2 Timothy 2:15 We can never go wrong in giving God's Word the attention and presidence it deserves. In Christ, lionheart |
