Justme, some time ago at the height of the furor over the TNIV, I wrote Zondervan an e-mail in which I set out in plain and forthright language what I thought of their new baby. In return I received a rather long e-mail, obviously a form letter, with essentially the same song-and-dance routine you got: read it and let us know what you think (this after I told them exactly what I thought) and they added, in glowing words, the testimonies of a half-dozen or so "esteemed scholars." The whole production reminded me of a commerical for Viagra or Preparation H. --Hank

Hank:-) I received my TNIV today. :-( I have read with my NASB and the NIV and Greek Pararalle New Testament. I went to Luke, 1 Corinthians, and then Romans. There are a few places I felt the gender nutral might aid in some way. Them there were places I saw as being inconsistant, with their own worded purpose. Then there were that I will call plane stupid errors, in this "persons" judgement. "People" was used when refering to circumsission! That is more than clear it should have refered to the male gender! Also when using the word "homosexual" the TNIV adds "practicing" before it. There seemed to be an agenda that compremises God's Word. I will continue my jorney in reading a few more selected sections, and then send in my review. Several times I said to my wife, "I will bet Hank blew a gasket!" I think this is so simular to the NRSV it makes no financial wisdom to have another corrucpted text in print. I hope enough "persons" let Zondervan know how this is such a kick in their teeth, so maybe they will let it die. Hope you are doing ok with the heart and pacemaker and defib. Remembering you in prayer...... justme |

Justme, well it is an anatomical mystery how physical circumcision could ever be gender inclusive! As I've said before, these gender-neutral (sometimes called gender inclusive) versions of the Holy Bible in "the language of today," as the dust-jacket blurbs wish us to believe, are idiocy working in tandem with deliberate and apparently shameless aims to pervert Scripture in order to coddle to the political, social and economic pressures exerted on them by a perverted world. But gender neutrality is not the only problem with the TNIV. They have taken what many, I among them, consider inappropriate and error-ridden liberties with the manuscripts in other areas as well. I honestly feel it would be a singular blessing if the TNIV and other farces of like ilk would rapidly wither and die on the vine. I have no use for them myself and would recommend them to no one. --Hank

Hank: I contacted Dr. Henery Moler, who worked on theNASN New Testament. I read him several problem areas. He was in agreement with me the text does not translate into what is printed. If that were thacare on not practicing homosexual, then where does the Blood of Christ and forgiveness come in? How anout a non practicing thief or whatever sin you can nane? I think the agenda is to accept homosexuality, and other agendas tied to this. I am reviewing the text and will give then a very accurate review, and hope the Lord will use it for His Glory. Oh by the way I do think every time jesus is refered to Hom or He it should show upper case letters. Thanks for the note. justme |
