1 | Actual bodies in heaven? | 1 John 3:2 | Val | 213990
Dear Bill, Maybe we christians got that idea from Paul in 2 Corinthians: 2 Cor 5:1 For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Did you notice that earthly tent is our house - our physical bodies. Our physical bodies as they get older don't work very good. The wear out. But we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Where? in the heavens. 2 Cor 5:2 For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven, As we get older and our physical bodies wear out we groan for our new bodies. 2 Cor 5:3 inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked. 2 Cor 5:4 For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life. If one is not clothed in the new body Christ has build for us that one is naked. In other words these new bodies are for those born again and saved people not the lost. 2 Cor 5:5 Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge. 2 Cor 5:6 Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord-- 2 Cor 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight-- 2 Cor 5:8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. When a genuine born again, saved believer dies in this physical body his spirit goes to be with the Lord in heaven. The believers resurrection is the resurrection of the "body". His "body" which is in the grave is joined with his "spirit" which comes with Christ from heaven and is joined together forming a new body. This can be found in Thessalonians. What passage are you talking about in Revelation? If you are talking about the new heaven and the new earth that is a different topic. There is a lot that happens in Revelation. Until the white throne judgement whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Sincerely, Val Sincerely, Val |

Here is a good and fun challenge, Val. Find one place in the Bible, just one, where it says that a believer goes straight to heaven when he/she dies. This reference must say "to heaven." If this is the true teaching of scripture, then the Bible should have a number of references that say that "we go to heaven" when we die. Can you find any?
3 | Actual bodies in heaven? | 1 John 3:2 | Val | 213998
Dear Bill, let me spell this out for you. God lives in heaven. Can we agree on that? To be absent from the body is to be physically dead. Can we agree on that? We know the dead physical body goes to the grave. Can we agree on that? To be at home with the Lord is to be where the Lord is- in heaven. Can we agree on that? So what is Paul saying in the following verse? Paul is saying that his spirit lives on, goes on, to be with the Lord in heaven. Can we agree on that? 2 Cor 5:8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Sincerely, Val |

Hi Val. You wrote: God lives in heaven. Can we agree on that? No. God is omnipresent. He is everywhere. He fills the universe. There is no place where he is not. You wrote: To be absent from the body is to be physically dead. Can we agree on that? Sure. You wrote: We know the dead physical body goes to the grave. Can we agree on that? Sure. You wrote: To be at home with the Lord is to be where the Lord is- in heaven. Can we agree on that? Not necessarily. The Lord is already with us. He indwells us. He is here. Can we agree on that? You wrote: So what is Paul saying in the following verse? Paul is saying that his spirit lives on, goes on, to be with the Lord in heaven. Can we agree on that? So Jesus was lying about being with us always and never leaving us? All I'm saying is that this issue is not as cut and dry as some people say it is, Val. I rather think Paul was speaking of consciousness, that when we die, we know nothing until we wake up in our resurrected bodies. Please see my next post. |

Dear Bill, I see that you have adopted the Oprah Winfrey philosophy, i.e., new age philosophy, i.e., Hinduism or some other ism. Maybe some of the other people on the forum can help you. Sincerely, Val
