NASB | 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:2 Beloved, we are [even here and] now children of God, and it is not yet made clear what we will be [after His coming]. We know that when He comes and is revealed, we will [as His children] be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is [in all His glory]. |
Bible Question:
Question a friend posed to me that had been brought up at a Bible study, and I'm stumped... What is the significance of us having actual bodies in heaven? I know Paul discusses resurrection vs earthly bodies in some detail in 1 Cor 15, and have also looked through Revelation, but yet to find anything concrete as to why we have a body in heaven. At this point my best answer is that I don't believe we will have a "body" exactly in the same sense as we know the word to mean on earth, but that still doesn't address the significance of it... any thoughts or especially relevant scriptures are appreciated! |
Bible Answer: Acts 1:9) And when he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10) And while they were looking stedfastly into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11) who also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into heaven. The resurrection of Christ was to overcome the worlds hold on our fleshly bodies. Christ went to Heaven in the flesh and will return in it. He also promised in John 14:1) Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me. 2) In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4) And whither I go, ye know the way. Why is the body so important I don't know and really don't care, but I do know that the glorified body will be with God forever. |
