NASB | 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:2 Beloved, we are [even here and] now children of God, and it is not yet made clear what we will be [after His coming]. We know that when He comes and is revealed, we will [as His children] be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is [in all His glory]. |
Subject: Actual bodies in heaven? |
Bible Note: Dear Bill, let me spell this out for you. God lives in heaven. Can we agree on that? To be absent from the body is to be physically dead. Can we agree on that? We know the dead physical body goes to the grave. Can we agree on that? To be at home with the Lord is to be where the Lord is- in heaven. Can we agree on that? So what is Paul saying in the following verse? Paul is saying that his spirit lives on, goes on, to be with the Lord in heaven. Can we agree on that? 2 Cor 5:8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Sincerely, Val |
