NASB | 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:2 Beloved, we are [even here and] now children of God, and it is not yet made clear what we will be [after His coming]. We know that when He comes and is revealed, we will [as His children] be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is [in all His glory]. |

Bible Note: Greetings Bill! You wrote: "Sure, these people were considered wicked by God. I mean, who isn't? But do you see God, in his "grace", sending any of the Israelites into these tribes to evangelize them? Do you see God, in his grace, sparing the women and children? Do you see God, in his grace, telling Israel to love her neighbors, to do good to them?" You also wrote: "This is one of the problems with Bible-thumping fundamentalists, they claim that their Bibles are the "very words of God" and they don't even know what is in there." There are at least two problems with your assertions. First of all, you have forgotten about Jonah and Nineveh. God in fact did send someone in to evangelize His enemies, and they repented and were spared from His judgment. Secondly, you are arguing from silence. We don't know every historical detail of the peoples you mentioned. Did God send prophets to warn them like He did we Nineveh? Scripture doesn't tell us. So, you are assuming that they were given no opportunity to repent. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
