AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:2 Beloved, we are [even here and] now children of God, and it is not yet made clear what we will be [after His coming]. We know that when He comes and is revealed, we will [as His children] be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is [in all His glory]. |
Subject: Actual bodies in heaven? |
Bible Note: Dear Bill, Maybe we christians got that idea from Paul in 2 Corinthians: 2 Cor 5:1 For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Did you notice that earthly tent is our house - our physical bodies. Our physical bodies as they get older don't work very good. The wear out. But we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Where? in the heavens. 2 Cor 5:2 For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven, As we get older and our physical bodies wear out we groan for our new bodies. 2 Cor 5:3 inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked. 2 Cor 5:4 For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life. If one is not clothed in the new body Christ has build for us that one is naked. In other words these new bodies are for those born again and saved people not the lost. 2 Cor 5:5 Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge. 2 Cor 5:6 Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord-- 2 Cor 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight-- 2 Cor 5:8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. When a genuine born again, saved believer dies in this physical body his spirit goes to be with the Lord in heaven. The believers resurrection is the resurrection of the "body". His "body" which is in the grave is joined with his "spirit" which comes with Christ from heaven and is joined together forming a new body. This can be found in Thessalonians. What passage are you talking about in Revelation? If you are talking about the new heaven and the new earth that is a different topic. There is a lot that happens in Revelation. Until the white throne judgement whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Sincerely, Val Sincerely, Val |
