We were discussing this on another egroup. Using the same Bible yet coming to different conclusions. Something is not right here, and the heathen world is laughing at us. So how are we to know which is truth and which is error? Both opposing views cannot be true, either one is correct and the other wrong, or both are wrong. We then say we have to be led by His Spirit. It's very easy to say that we are led by the Holy Spirit. Is the Holy Spirit showing me the truth? Is the Holy Spirit showing you the truth? Is it the same Holy Spirit? Then how can we disagree when we say we have that very same Holy Spirit? Is the same Holy Spirit showing all the various denominations and churches the truth when so plainly they disagree with each other? Definitely not. The same Holy Spirit CANNOT be claimed to be leading the churches in truth today when they disagree with each other. The same Holy Spirit who inspired the Bible cannot disagree with His Word and with others who claim to be led by Him. No, I'm not doubting that we have to be led by the Holy Spirit and I trust Him completely as it is Him alone that guides us, teaches us and leads us into all truth. So how? |

Norrie I feel as long as man insists on attempting to explain the unexplainable, insists on doing things his own way, and dismissing passages that contradict with their decided belief this will happen. As long man is willing to change definitions of words, ignore the overall theme of the Bible to focus on a passage or two, and rationalizes whatever he desires under the guise of intellectualism we will always have different doctrine. When man for whatever reason attempts to prove himself right and someone else wrong he violates many of the essentials. When man refuses to be lead by but consents to merely accompany the Holy Spirit these differences will rise. We then quickly dismiss this problem by saying it is the essentials of Christianity that are important not these side issues and we “all” agree on the essentials. This sounds good but is patently false. A major essential doctrine of Christianity is to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. When man for whatever reason attempts to prove himself right and someone else wrong he violates it. Look at any thread which discuses a so called side issue on this forum and this will be quickly revealed. On this forum we can’t agree on what “all” means. I'm sure the non Christian world is greatly entertained when the Christian world can't agree on the meaning of the word "all" EdB |
