Dear Ed, 1 Cor 12:21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; or again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." Before I recieved God's calling, I remember reading the Sermon on the Mount and coming to the erroneous conclusion that salvation depended on perfect obedience to the law. It was not until I was shown the truth by godly teachers that I was blessed with the proper understanding. I believe creeds and confessions serve to unify rather than divide. Take the doctrine of the Trinity for instance. I for one am indebted to the great teachers of antiquity that have provided the church such wonderfull and enligtening insights to th nature of God. Also, I believe it is important to remember that our creeds arose in answer to those who were attemting to pervert sound doctrine. My church does not insist upon my adherence to the WCF. In fact it states that a christian's conscience may be bound to Scripture alone. John |

"In fact it states that a christian's conscience may be bound to Scripture alone." Dear John...I have great respect for the wisdom of this statement. Because when believers 'commit' to a church body and it's doctrines, and obey because they have committed and not because they agree, who are they serving? This statement allows them them liberty to seek truth and grow, rather than box them in. And we should all be steadily growing.... God bless |

Amen Gracefull! 2 Cor 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. May God grant that we cherish and protect our liberty in Christ til He appears. God Bless, John |
