1 | Go to Hell after receiving Holy Spirit? | Rom 10:9 | beva | 74404
Greetings disciplerami, I'm hoping you can help me with an answer to this question. If I read your posts correctly it appears that you believe that salvation occurs at the moment of baptism. I accepted Christ and was not baptised until 3 months later. Immediately upon accepting Christ I received the Holy Spirit. How do I know? I was delivered from the desire to sin among other things:-) I am absolutely convinced that I received the Holy Spirit upon accepting Christ. My question is: If I died in that 3 month period before being baptised, would I have gone to Hell?
2 | Go to Hell after receiving Holy Spirit? | Rom 10:9 | disciplerami | 74637
Greetings, Thanks for the very good questions. The answer to your question is 'yes.' The purpose of Baptism is clear: "Why do you delay, arise and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on his name." "He who believes and is baptized shall be saved..." In Mark 16:16, he tells us who is lost - those who don't believe the Gospel. He also tells us who is saved - those who believe and are baptized. Belief without works is dead. Good day. |

3 | Go to Hell after receiving Holy Spirit? | Rom 10:9 | beva | 74650
Disciplerami, thank you for taking the time to answer my question. WOuld you indulge me one more time? I just want to clarify your statement. If I understand you correctly, that means people who accept Christ on their deathbed, soldiers who accept Christ as they are dying on the battlefield, those we heard about who accepted Christ before they died in the Twin Towers, etc, etc... are all in Hell now. Is that correct? In Christ's forgiving, redeeming Love, --beva |

4 | Go to Hell after receiving Holy Spirit? | Rom 10:9 | Hank | 74671
Beva, the hour is late and I haven't time to comment in detail, but I feel impelled to intervene briefly. The Scriptures DO NOT teach that water baptism saves anyone. By grace are we saved through faith in Jesus Christ. A sinner who is regenerated (born again in Christ) 30 minutes before he departs this earth has the very same assurance of eternal life through Christ Jesus as does the one who comes to Christ 30 years before his physcial death. Water baptism is an act of obedience that follows regeneration, but it is not itself a regenerating act. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, having nothing to do with water or of 'speaking in tongues,' is the experience of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer at the time of regeneration, or new birth. --Hank
