2 | short and long version of Mark 16:8 | Mark 16:9 | EdB | 125510
To add to this debate I just found that the Mark 16:8-20 has a conflict with Luke 24:34. Mark 16:13 says the two disciples after having met Jesus on the road came and told the others but the others did not believe them. Mark 16:13 NASB They went away and reported it to the others, but they did not believe them either. However in Luke 24:34 It says the eleven did believe and even confessed Jesus arose. Luke 24:34 saying, "The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon." So Mark says they didn't believe and in Luke it says they believed and were rejoicing. which is right? EdB |

Hi EdB, In Mark's gospel, it does not specify who they actually reported Jesus' resurrection to. Could it have been other disciples than the eleven? The two that Jesus met on the road were not of the eleven, since in Luke 24:33 they found the 11. |

4 | short and long version of Mark 16:8 | Mark 16:9 | EdB | 125545
I agree but the implication here is it it included the 11 disciples for two reasons. The "rest" is by default inclusive of the "all" the disciples including the 11. Also verse 14 mentions the 11 in particular. However I will agree there is some wiggle room here. EdB |
