1 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | Hank | 90830
Radioman: Yes, it's odd indeed. Maybe it has something to do with the tone of voice :-) With apologies to Ogden Nash, I would observe that our daily diet grows odder and odder: 'tis a wise sheep that knows its Fodder. --Hank
2 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | justme | 90944
Hank; I have read this discourse with the pastor and you with interest. A cup of warmed over spit? Only you could have said that with such grace. In a more serious direction, I am feeling rather discouraged. In my mind it seems, that when a solid Biblical note is given to someone asking a very serious question, almost without fail it happens. Someone who is blinded by Fred Pirce, or Coplend, or some other WOF teacher is brought into the picture, and the results are the person asking the question really messed up. Some WOF followers are so arrogant in their notes as to cause others to doubt that they did not have required faith or the results would have been different. Recently some Forum person said Fred Price was along side of Billy Gramham and three other real men ofGod. When I asked when or how this happened the subject was avoided, and never came back to address it. The rtruth was it never happened! For me it is heart wrenching to send a note to someone who has had a child with serious illness, and say because of the parents lack of faith the child was not healed. When the subject comes up of how one should live as a good steward of income or lifestyles there is no place for modest living. The anger flys the when the brand of extreme luxury automible that the WOF teacher drives is challenged. The response is God wants us to be wealthy! I am so baffled, and fail to see that this is not a cult. Could you offer me a suggestion in how to deal with these WOF followers, in a better way, so I don't become so upset? I am sure I have swallowed enough spit to make several cups, at this point. Thank you for any suggestions. Blessings. justme |

3 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | Hank | 90978
Justme, I have no pat answer to offer on dealing with W-F and other cults. I believe all we can do is what Jesus told His disciples to do and what Paul charged Timothy to do: preach the word, the gospel of Christ. Many will have eyes that do not see and ears that do not hear: they have itching ears and turn away from the pure gospel to myths and fables, to deceive and be deceived. We can try to teach, correct, rebuke, exhort -- but there must come a time when we shake the dust off our feet and go on, trusting the Holy Spirit to convict whomever He will convict. I believe that even the Holy Spirit ceases to strive and turns them over to the powers of this world, to their own reprobate minds. --Hank
4 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | justme | 91070
Hank: Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. My wife said basicly the same thing. She used the example of swine and pearls, and verses that said that endless talk is wasted on W-F that add false information. I feel rather defeated that nothing can be said to show the genuine GOOD NEWS! I think we are in very serious times, and unless one becomes a solid Scripturely based Christian the (evil) birds shall eat the seed that has been sowed. Blessings. justme |
