1 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | Hank | 90749
Pastor Floyd: In re: your post # 90632 -- Where does the Bible say anything about anyone "releasing" his faith? And who in his right mind would ever ask for the common cold? Have you? Do you know anyone who has? Surely you're aware that what you're promoting about health and healing is nothing but a charismatic knock-off of Christian Science and the Peale-Schuler version of "positive thinking," which leaders of your stripe call "positive confession." Both are characterized by a curious combination of humanism on the one hand and "commanding" God to pay His "debts" to fallen man on the other -- an impossible combination than which no other doctrine contrived by the mind of man is more unscriptural. --Hank
2 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | PastorFloyd | 90768
Hank: When you come down with a cold you come down with the symptoms first. Right? Sneezing: Runny nose: scratchy throat: a small cough: SYMPTOMS HANK, NOT A COLD. SYMPTOM! Then invariable someone asks you how you feel. You say I have a cold. Right Hank? I have a cold. The god of this world is standing at your elbow and he agrees with you. Remember Hank, the Bible says if two agree on anything they shall have it. It continues, "Jesus is at you right hand to see that you receive it. NOW Jesus does not give us sickness, He says in Philippians that He came so that we might have abundant life. Right? But, Hank, the Bible says we can have what we want in this world. We are to follow the rules of this world, Hank and rule No 1 is that what you say with your mouth, IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART, you shall receive it. Apparently you must believe it because you tell your friend that you have a cold. YOU HAVE AFFIRMED THAT YOU HAVE A COLD; THAT YOU ARE COMING DOWN WITH A COLD. AGAIN! YOU HAVE SAID IT WITH YOUR MOUTH! That is not Christian Science, or pre-Schuler or pre anybody Hank. That is good old common horse sense! You are in this world but you are not of this world. But, while in this world you have to answer to the worlds rules. A friend of mine is affiliated with the Space Administration. Do you know that when you leave this earth's atmosphere there is a whole new set of rules that you have to follow? Do you know that if you receive an injury in space that it heals up within a day. Ask Grissom. He received a cut on his arm that laid it open to the bone and they thought they were going to have to abort the mission. He healed up without a scar in a few minutes. THEY HAVE PICTURES OF IT IN HOUSTON, HANK. Hank if I don't want to affirm that I have a cold, if I don't want a cold why should I ask for it? |

3 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | Hank | 90796
Now, good Pastor Floyd, why don't you go back to my queston (#90749) and actually ANSWER it? In the "answer" you gave, you played the part of the dodger -- and not a very artful dodger at that -- and evaded the question. What I wanted to know, and still do, is where does the Bible say anything about "releasing" faith, and where does it say anything about having what we want in this world? Pastor Floyd, what is the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ? Why did God send His Son into the world, why did God give His Son to die on the cross? Was it so that man can have robust physical health and material prosperity? Or was it for some other reason, like forgiveness of sins, for instance? Please answer these questions and support your answers with Scripture. If you wish any Bible-believing follower of Christ to believe anything you have said, you are under obligation to prove your statements by submitting clear evidence that your beliefs are in accord with what the word of God teaches. Otherwise, your ideas are not worth a cup of warmed-over spit to a follower of Christ. --Hank
4 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | PastorFloyd | 90816
The main gist of what the Bible is teaching is the Salvation of Jesus Christ Hank. But why should I live in sickness or poverty because you want me to? I don't care whether you or anyone else believes that Christ died for good health or prosperity, Hank. I am going to continue following my beliefs Hank because it works for ME and MY FAMILY. I repeat once again Hank: DO A WORD SEARCH ON THE SCRIPTURES FOR HEALING. READ THEM WITH ON OPEN MIND HANK. READ THEM HANK! DON'T RELY ON OTHER PEOPLE TO READ THEM FOR YOU. I did not get my healing by listening to Alexander Scourby reading the scriptures. I got my healing and prosperity by studying the Word of God myself, over a period of time. Course if there is anyone out there who can read the scriptures once and get that same thing, great. all the more power to you. You know what Hank? I know that you are again going to ask me to put the scriptures where my mouth is and I tell you again and again and again do a word search of the scriptures of healing. While your at it, do a word search on prosperity, you will be surprised on the number of scriptures that God put in His Word on prosperity. Do a word search on the laying on of hands also. Do a word search on the boundaries that God set in place when He created the earth. There are a great number of word searches that you can do on the different persecutions that we are going through in this world. God has an answer for everyone of them. FIND THEM YOURSELF. THAT IS HOW YOU BUILD UP YOUR FAITH. STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED. |

5 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | Hank | 90823
Pastor Floyd: You say you didn't get your healing by listening to Alexander Scourby reading the Scriptures. Thanks for the tip. Maybe that's where I went wrong. I think I'll switch and listen to James Earl Jones reading the Scriptures :-) And thanks also for the tip on doing a word search. Please allow me to return the favor. Why don't you do a word search (in a good dictionary) for the words 'exegesis' and 'context'? --Hank
6 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | Radioman2 | 90826
Hank: Isn't it odd that the people who encourage us to speak the Scriptures aloud are also the same people who are opposed to listening to someone else speak them aloud? Radioman2 |

7 | Ask for a cold, and ye shall receive it? | Matt 16:6 | Hank | 90830
Radioman: Yes, it's odd indeed. Maybe it has something to do with the tone of voice :-) With apologies to Ogden Nash, I would observe that our daily diet grows odder and odder: 'tis a wise sheep that knows its Fodder. --Hank
8 | What would happen if...? | Matt 16:6 | Radioman2 | 90835
Hank: While we're at it, what do you suppose would happen if a prosecuting attorney went into court and, when asked by the judge to present his evidence, replied: "Your honor, if it's evidence you want, why don't YOU conduct an investigation and come up with evidence to prove my case?" Why not? As Copeland would reason, If you have imagination as a grain of sesame seed, nothing shall be impossible unto you. Would such a prosecutor be cited for contempt of court or would he be disbarred on the grounds that he is too stupid to practice law? Radioman2 P.S. "Stupid" is such an ugly word. But then so are the words "you fools" and "you skeptics". |

9 | What would happen if...? | Matt 16:6 | Searcher56 | 91492
Actually the judge would remind the prosecutor of the define roles of each. Is a Biblical twist with "imagination as a grain of sesame seed"? |
