1 | Is "slain in the Spirit" biblical? | Matt 16:6 | Mathew | 90484
Hello Radioman, Im 27 years old, Ive been going to a non-denominational Church most of my Christian life. Then all of a sudden people in my Church are running to Toronto to receive a special blessing. A group of them come back giving there testamonies and start shaking and falling all over the place. Some being paralyzed all together. Previouse to this I have scene many people fall after getting prayed for. Some of it looked fake, and some of it looked real. But for the most part I beleive it was real. But not the Holy Ghost. Wether they were susceptable to spontaneous suggestions, or looking for a spirit or a sighn so bad they found one. I have no idea. But it wasnt God. God told us what sighns to look for, and this wasnt one of them. These people beleived that Christ was moving more powerful in Toronto. I know these scriptures will be out of context for not going to Toronto for a sighn or a special blessing, but I like them anyway. Luk 17:21 Nor shall they say, Lo here! or, behold, there! For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst. Luk 17:22 And He said to the disciples, The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you shall not see it. Luk 17:23 And they shall say to you, Lo, here! or, behold, there! Do not go away, nor follow. If its not in the Bible for us to look forward to as an out pouring or a sighn. Then why should we beleive this non-scence. Moses himself was in more direct contact with God then any man ever has. His hair actually turned gray from this experience, and he never was "slain in the spirit". Virtue actally left Jesus when Mary touched his garment, and she never became a shaking show. I can find this shaking and passing out stuff anywhere in Gods good book. These are just my opinions. MaTT |

Justme, funny you should mention Fred Price. I've been following this string and I think you are onto something. I went several times to Fred Price's faith dome after hearing rumors of healings within. People were prone to being slain during F.P's services, which to my eye looked like hypnosis show histrionics. F.P's ministry also has a definite scent of "If it ain't happening for you, maybe you ain't happening for it." I took my son there in hopes of a healing. F.P. prayed over him, then informed me that my boy's healing would progress as my faith grew. That annoyed me, and I've since discovered the falsity of that presumption. During one sermon he stated "Christians aren't supposed to suffer," and cited Saint Stephen's falling asleep as evidence for this sweeping claim. Thing is, his congregation eats it up. I don't doubt that many of his flock are saved, but what a diet they're on. Colin |

"F.P. prayed over him, then informed me that my boy's healing would progress as my faith grew. That annoyed me, and I've since discovered the falsity of that presumption." Fred Price made a true statement, why didn't you pray for your sons healing? You went to F.P's service and you come out pointing fingers! You don't mention if your son ever received his healing, did he? God bless Phil.4:8 |

Fred Price saying that healing would progress as faith grew is not Biblical ... unless you can prove other wise.
6 | Is "slain in the Spirit" biblical? | Matt 16:6 | gracefull | 90642
Mark 8:23-25 is a perfect example of a progressive healing.. 23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. 24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. 25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. Since we know Jesus was not limited in His power to heal, what do you suppose limited this man from receiving his full vision the first time? Could it be that his faith grew when he realized he could actually see in part? God bless |
