1 | Do babies go to heaven or hell? | Gen 5:24 | Searcher56 | 153934
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment (Heb 9:27) means death is final. Yes, there is resurrection ... in fact two (Rev 20:5ff). We are on dangerous grounds if something is given once and we discount it (children who disobey their parents). Numbers 14 gives us some idea about what happens at age of 20. 1 John 2:2 as well as John 3:16 says he died for the world. Just as coupons that are sent out and we get ... they need to be redeemed ... we must take action - accept them, believe that they are true and make the call ... else they are worthless to us. Children come with less baggage ... "such as these little children" ... since God wants all to be saved as He says in 2 Peter ... why does He let us live beyond a certain point. We condemn ourselves ... plus, if we wanted our children to get a free pass, we could never explain what is right and evn more important the way to heaven. Now answer ... Psalm 51:5 says we were born sinners (Gen 8:21, Psa 58:3, Jhn 9:34, Eph 2:3). Do you agree? God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah there were less than ten righteous (Gen 18:16-19:25) and only the righteous have eternal life, the unrighteous, eternal punishment (Mat 25:31-46). Were the babies righteous or unrighteous? |

Searcher, "Now answer ... Psalm 51:5 says we were born sinners (Gen 8:21, Psa 58:3, Jhn 9:34, Eph 2:3). Do you agree?" Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. My understanding is that we are born into a sinful state, and we confirm that state with our own sin. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Joh 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; The sins of the entire world were paid for. The babies died at Sodom and Gomorrah because they were "conceived in sin", and yet, Jesus died for the sins of the world, paving the way for their acceptance into heaven. Remember, where little is given, little is required. The God Who died to pay the price for all sin of all time, has promised to judge those who do not recieve Him by their works. So I ask, what is the disobedience that a child can work, that does not know from right and wrong? I just do not see how Numbers 14 can be applied outside of that particular circumstance, and you have not offered any other scriptural proof but to keep repeating that it does. When God has provided a way for these babies to come to Him, and has given the principles of justice that allow it, do you no think that is is the heart of God to receive them to Himself? And no, I don't think that any of this, or anything else, absolves us of our responsibility to fulfill God's every commandment. Love in Christ, Mark |

But did the babies accept the gift of God? I am done discussing this with you. You agree that we are born sinners, yet the babies as sinners, go to heaven ... sinners are not allowed in by God. |

Searcher, We all sin, but we do not all go into the lake of fire. When Jesus died, He took upon himself the imputation of our sin; He took credit for our sin, and bore the punishment. Only those with imputed sin will go into the lake of fire. Imputation of sin is only given according to the breaking of God's law. Babies, though born with original sin, have not yet received God's law. It is when they understand God's law, and choose to break it, that sin is imputed. I have covered these scriptures in my posts. I would also ask that if you wish to represent my responses in your post, please be careful to present my words as I wrote them. Our God is just and merciful, and has made the way not only for the ones who are mature, aware, and intelligent, but also for the young, handicapped, and for whatever reason, unable to understand as we do. Where much is given, much is required. Where little is given, little is required. To those who have lost a young child, who had not matured enough yet to understand the gospel, take heart - God loves them so much more than you do. Mat 19:13 Then little children were brought to Him, that He might lay hands on them and might pray. But the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, Allow the little children and do not prevent them to come to Me, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven. Love in Christ, Mark |

Mark I am glad you included this statement... Our God is just and merciful, and has made the way not only for the ones who are mature, aware, and intelligent, but also for the young, handicapped, and for whatever reason, unable to understand as we do. I worked with physically and mentally disabled people. I witness to them also and most of the time feel that they are closer to God than I ever would be. Do you know of any scriptures that would support this? Thanks Seedling |

6 | Do babies go to heaven or hell? | Gen 5:24 | mark d seyler | 154017
Hi Seedling, I think of the people who seem unable to understand as one of either two groups. The first group includes the young (babies, small children) and the completely mentally disabled, who are simply not able to comprehend the ideas of the Law, and the Gospel. To these I apply Paul's discussion of the relationship of the giving of the Law to imputation of sin, in Romans 5. Basically, where there is no law given, there is no imputation of sin. The second group is those who are mentally disabled, who seem unable to grasp these things, but we really don't know. To them I apply Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;" We never really know what God is doing spiritually inside someone. I think that the person who is less connected to this world may be more able to be connected to God. Our natural abilities don't correlate to our spiritual abilities. Of the children, and those who are in their minds still children: Mat 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. Love in Christ, Mark |
