1 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214878 | ||
Hi bibleman From what took place at the end of that story about Abraham, we can determine that God did not have any intention in letting Abraham go through with the sacrifice of his son. If Abraham did not do what God had said, he would have failed the test. Thereby no death of Isaac. But in the last second, when Abraham had determined in his heart, to sacrifice his son, to God. That is when God stopped him, providing a sacrifice instead of Isaac. No death of Isaac God knows the thoughts, and intentions of the heart, when Abraham fully intended to carry out what he had been commanded to do by God, that is when he was stopped. His intent then was not to kill any chances of Gods promise of coming to fruition, but rather his intention was to trust in God, and the promise, in spite of any doubt he may have had. Obedience is better than sacrifice, especially in this case. 1 Chronicles 28:9 Romans 8:27 Vintage68 |

Hi Thanks for your reply. Above you said: "we can determine that God did not have any intention in letting Abraham go through with the sacrifice of his son." So are you saying that God did not mean what he said and was lying when HE said: "Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering..." Hi bibleman Every question you have asked including your original question, seem to have the same thrust in them, they all appear to be trying to catch God in a lie, or a contradiction. It would help, if in the future you would address your posts. Vintage68 |

Hi Vintage68, Sorry but this forum is sometimes hard for me to figure out where to reply or post. Sorry my fault. No I am not trying to catch God in a lie. I am trying to understand this passage in the light of James 1. I have someone I am ministering too and they have asked this question. Just trying to find an answer. |
