Bible Question: When God told Abraham to kill his son... why was that not sin and why was that not tempting Abraham to sin? Which would be against what God said in James chapter 1 about God NOT temping any man with evil. |
Bible Answer: Hi bibleman From what took place at the end of that story about Abraham, we can determine that God did not have any intention in letting Abraham go through with the sacrifice of his son. If Abraham did not do what God had said, he would have failed the test. Thereby no death of Isaac. But in the last second, when Abraham had determined in his heart, to sacrifice his son, to God. That is when God stopped him, providing a sacrifice instead of Isaac. No death of Isaac God knows the thoughts, and intentions of the heart, when Abraham fully intended to carry out what he had been commanded to do by God, that is when he was stopped. His intent then was not to kill any chances of Gods promise of coming to fruition, but rather his intention was to trust in God, and the promise, in spite of any doubt he may have had. Obedience is better than sacrifice, especially in this case. 1 Chronicles 28:9 Romans 8:27 Vintage68 |
