1 | Renewal AGAIN to repentance? | NT general Archive 1 | Reformer Joe | 24950 | ||
You know, one of the biggest struggles I have with an otherwise rock-solid doctrine of the perseverance of the saints (sorry, eternal security carries too much "pray a prayer and no matter what you do, you must be saved" baggage these days) is the one word "again" in Hebrews 6. Renewal again to repentance would assume that they had been in a state of repentance in the first place. How does our "once saved, always saved" group here (of which I consider myself a member) deal with the word "again"? --Joe! |

I'm not really understanding what you are saying or asking. But let me ask you a question... If a person returns to a life of sin having come to know Jesus as their personal Savior, dies having never repented or never came back to Christ...you're saying that they will be saved? It boggles my mind that people actually believe that. Oh well. |

Dear GloriaLynn, Greetings in Jesus' name! What boggles the mind even more is to think about the line that we cross that takes away our salvation! After all, I have never met a sinless person. Which sin is 'unforgiveable?' 491? In Christ Jesus, charis |

The sin of blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. I'm not really understanding you, but if you are saying that we can all be forgiven...of course I agree. But there is no forgiveness after death is there? So if one dies after having gone back into a world of sin and never got the opportunity to repent, I'm asking...will they be saved? |

Now you are asking a completely different question. Must we confess each and every individual sin in order to be saved? Which of my sins did Christ die for on the Cross? "who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself." --Hebrews 7:27 All of my sins are atoned for already. Christ's self-sacrifice accomplished its goal. While the Christian's life is one of continual repentance, my justification is already complete. In addition, if one holds that one must confess each and every sin when it is committed, then we are all in trouble. There is no way in our pride that we recognize each and every offense against God's law or our shortcomings in complying fully with it. Therefore, we all live without recognizing each and every specific sinful thought, word, and action that we have committed since receiving Christ. Those who say they do are either underestimating their sinfulness or greatly reducing to more manageable terms what exactly sin is. --Joe! |
