Bible Note: Pete, I left that part out on purpose, thinking you would probably see your error. Since you didn't, here it is. You seem to have missed the qualifying portion of the verse. Deut. 14:24 states "...if the way be too long...; or if the place be too far..." Now, it goes without saying that we cannot take our tithes (there at at least 3 of them) or our free-will offerings to the temple, so we'll work with what we do have - virtually a church per every other intersection nowadays (most places, at least 1 within any given mile), but, even if you're really waaaaaay in the boondocks, all that is needed is a phone call, or a mail courier - there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for not getting your tithes and offerings to where they are supposed to go. Sorry, to blow that one down for you. :o( Seriously, read the New Testament first. Once you have read the Gospels and letters, you'll be able to read the front portion of the book with much better understanding - your Lord and Savior is all over the Hebrew scriptures. But if you don't know Him, you won't recognize Him any better than did the majority of Israelites of His day. Have fun learning about our King Who is soon coming Cheri |
