Subject: Kill your brother and drink strong drink |
Bible Note: Dear John, I'm sure the NT will fill me with more light on what my pastor is trying to say and that is why I have already started my readings. I am a third or so through Matthew and already have some questions, but let me answer your last posting. I do not get drunk with wine or strong drink. I am not a thief, covetous, reviler or swindler. I have never been and never will be a drunkard. When I drink my wine or margarita with my dinner I enjoy a buzz that relaxes me and allows me to feel the goodness of God's blessings. It is a wonderful euphoria to behold the majesty of God's creation. In your paragraph where you said most bible scholars believe the "strong drink" mentioned in Dt 14:26 is to be taken with the food they were eating as was available and customary, then you have validated my use of strong drink with my meals. Thank you, Pete |
