AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 5:33 However, each man among you [without exception] is to love his wife as his very own self [with behavior worthy of respect and esteem, always seeking the best for her with an attitude of lovingkindness], and the wife [must see to it] that she respects and delights in her husband [that she notices him and prefers him and treats him with loving concern, treasuring him, honoring him, and holding him dear]. Bible Note: At the risk of jumping into a frenzy, please allow me to toss in 2 cents worth. I disagree with Rabbi Mark where he says, “It is reasonable to believe that if Adam had been present, his part in this whole thing would have been recorded.” I do believe everything was recorded. Look at the Genesis 3 passage as one would look at a negative of a picture. The empty space speaks volumes. Adam did not take the leadership position given to him by God, one of being head and protector of his wife. By his silence, he left his wife open to temptation. By not speaking up and reiterating God’s “law” or “rule” of not eating from the tree, he dropped the proverbial ball of leadership right at the serpent’s feet (or lack thereof). Rabbi Mark says, “I don't believe God would have left out something that important.” Here I do agree, God would not have left something important out of His word. And He didn’t. God recorded Adam’s silence, which rings like a gong! And I don’t think this would be considered “reading between the lines” either. May God grant His wisdom to us all as we study His word and seek to determine His principal and truth contained within. Ever praying, Beensetfree |
