NASB | Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 5:33 However, each man among you [without exception] is to love his wife as his very own self [with behavior worthy of respect and esteem, always seeking the best for her with an attitude of lovingkindness], and the wife [must see to it] that she respects and delights in her husband [that she notices him and prefers him and treats him with loving concern, treasuring him, honoring him, and holding him dear]. Bible Note: And thank God He did lay down the rule - although the feminist movement would not agree. Some interpret "Your desire shall be for your husband.." to mean wanting to dominate over him, and I think that is probably true. You can't have two heads in a corporation making different decisions and have a company survive- neither can a family have 2 heads making opposite decisions and still survive, as we have seen all too often in our culture. Yet, the "natural" tendency is to take dominion from the husband for so many wives, myself included. Yet what a release when you can turn that over. I think a lot of women don't understand because they have never tried it, it goes against what we have been trained and seems to make our role in the marriage seem less (srchng - yes, I am a woman!)when in fact, it gives us more time and energy to allow us to keep more of our focus on the role God intended for us to have.
