NASB | Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 5:33 However, each man among you [without exception] is to love his wife as his very own self [with behavior worthy of respect and esteem, always seeking the best for her with an attitude of lovingkindness], and the wife [must see to it] that she respects and delights in her husband [that she notices him and prefers him and treats him with loving concern, treasuring him, honoring him, and holding him dear]. Bible Question:
I am really impressed with your answer to this question. Still, I have a point of curiosity. In reference to 1 Tim 2:12-14, mightn't this be God's order of things rather than a "flaw?" Perhaps Eve fell into sin when her husband wasn't there, because . . . well . . . he wasn't there (to protect her.) Does this make as much sense to you as it does to me in light of Scripture? Bible Answer: Dear Srchng: I believe that you are right on this count. What I have denounced as a flaw should more reasonably be considered as God's perfect order of things. And this makes it all the more important for both the woman and the man to live out their respective roles as God has prescribed in His Word. Thank you for setting me straight in my perspective. You are wise. Rabbi Mark |
