Bible Question: Romans 8: 38, 39 Matthew 25: 30 is there security of the believer or not |
Bible Answer: Greetings Corky: There is no contradiction between the two scriptures you have cited. In Romans 8: 38-39 is a note of victory to those who are "in Christ Jesus"v.1 In verse 35-39 we are told this wonderful truth that there is absolutely nothing that can separate the believer from the love of Christ. Our security is anchored in the worth and work of our Lord Jesus Christ who paid the ultimate price for our redemption. The eternal life which is ours when we trust him is a gift which is given to us the moment we rest in the finished work of Christ. Romans 6:23 In our lives there may be things which will cloud our daily fellowhsip with God, but there is nothing that cancell the relationship we have in him through Christ. In Matt. 25 we must remember the entire chapter is talking about profession. In other words in this world we have many people who profess to be Christians. The reality of that profession will be tested when Christ comes. Thus we will have those who have never known him exposed for what they are. The key is "do we know Christ as our Savior and Lord?" or are we simply hoping that our works or church affiliation will make us fit for heaven. "We are more than conquerors through him that loved us" Rom 8:37 God bless Robert |
