Subject: Do I have to be Baptized to be saved? |
Bible Note: It is my understanding that Jesus IS our example, and because of what He has done at the cross in this scenario, we see that our salvation does NOT hinge on baptism. I AGREE with you, baptism is something we do in obedience, but I sense if someone has died after confessing faith in Christ, (like people imprisoned for their faith in communist countries, for instance) but not having been baptized, then these people will be saved. The Lord knows the heart of those whom He calls to Himself and likewise, the baptism of someone who is doing it out of tradition and NOT having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, will most likely not be saved. "Many will say to Me, Lord, Lord..and He will say 'depart from Me, I never KNEW you'..(see Matt 7:23 and then Matt 25:34-40) What a sobering concept. These people were calling Him by His name, "Lord, Lord"..and yet He says, "I never KNEW you, depart from Me all you who practice lawlessness".. I find it interesting because these people thought they were believers in Him. Likewise, the verses in Matt 25 where Jesus separates the sheep from the goats and explains why these who follow Him will enter into eternal life with Him. None of the basis given says anything about being baptized, but it does list serving by faith in Him. Thanks for listening. |
