Subject: Saved vs. Works (John 5:24 and 5:28-29) |
Bible Note: Greetings Dabody7! Thanks for the reply! I haven't had the opportuntiy to read all of your posts on this thread. I have been very busy the last few days. My daughter just had our first grandbaby Saturday night. So, you may have answered this point, and I do plan on reading the rest of your posts a little later. I can agree with your statement about grace and faith, but not the statement about works. Eph. 2:8-9 uses a construction in the Greek which allows the pronoun 'it' to refer to both 'grace' and 'faith', since 'it' is not the same gender as either of these two words. However, there isn't any Scripture which says that 'works alone' cannot save us. They all say that works cannot save us at all, either alone or with anything else. I agree with everything you said about grace. :-) It is just that one little phrase at the beginning of your post that concerns me - "...works alone cannot save you ...". Scripture is very clear that works cannot save us at all, either alone or with anything else. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
