Subject: Saved vs. Works (John 5:24 and 5:28-29) |
Bible Note: Hello, John. Picking up on your good line "If a person dares to stand before God Almighty and claim entrance to heaven based on works..." brings to mind the familiar passage of Isaiah 64:6. I shudder to think that if you, John, and I, Hank, came face to face with the Holy God, dragging our pitiful little "Daily Log of Good Deeds I Performed on Earth" with us, and heard the pronouncement by God Himself: You, John and Hank, have become as one unclean, and all your righteous deeds are like a filthy garment, and you wither like a leaf, and your iniquities like the wind take you away."..... The scenario I trust, and know that you do too, is that when we find ourselves face to face with the Almighty God, we can indeed proclaim with gratitude that we are justified by the His grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. It is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and He only who paid the price on the cross, and through faith in Him alone is any man, no matter how many good deeds he has entered in his log book, ever justified. Grace to you, brother in Christ. --Hank |
