Subject: Can God die? |
Bible Note: Hi justme, It appears like you have it turned around. Jesus didn’t become God; God became a man so He could die for our sins; God as God can’t die, He had to become a man to do it. Jesus was the Man and was sinless and paid a debt he didn’t owe because we, or the human race, owed a debt, to God that we couldn’t pay, eternal separation form God. It would be like a Judge pronouncing a punishment of death on you, for a crime that you committed, then stepping down from the bench and saying that he would take the punishment for you, if you would accept his offer. That’s grace, you don’t earn it and you sure don’t deserve it. Like wise God condemned us, then God steps down from heaven into a mans body, called Jesus, and paid the price! If we will but trust in what God has done for us in the person of His Son He will give us eternal life as a free gift! Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Here is an example of the Father, the Son and the Spirit all together. Luke 3:21-22 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
