Subject: Who is Jesus' God? |
Bible Note: Tara, here is a copy of my original post to you some months back, the one you have finally answered here. “…can you explain this? ‘Who has planned and done it, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I Jehovah am the first and the last; I am He.’ (ISA 41.4, LITV). ‘So says Jehovah, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, Jehovah of Hosts: I am the First, and I am the Last; and there is no God except Me.’ (Isa 44.6 LITV) ‘Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel My called: I am He; I am the First; surely I am the Last.’ (Isa 48.12, LITV). ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, says the Lord, the One who is, and who was, and who is coming, the Almighty.’ (Rev 1.8, LITV) ‘And He said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending. To the one thirsting, I will freely give of the fountain of the Water of Life.’ (Rev 21.6, LITV) ‘And to the angel of the assembly of Smyrna, write: These things says the First and the Last, Who became dead, and lived:’ (Rev 2.8 LITV) “Who is this last speaker?” I quoted the LITV because it is TR based and also uses “Jehovah” in the NT. You conclude that the speaker in Revelation 2.8 is Jesus Christ and that because He does not echo “…the Alpha and the Omega”, he is therefore not identifying Himself as equal to God but as “the first and the last” Adam, in so many words. In your reading of Rev 22:12,13,18 is it Jesus or God Almighty who is coming? Colin |
