Bible Note: "Since your asking me questions let me ask you. Did Abraham being considered righteous by God need a redeemer or not?" Yes, and it was promised to him. God making the promise preceded Abraham's belief. "Did Christ pay the price for sin or not? Did he or did he not free us from the penalty of sin?" I don't even think this question needs to be asked of me, do you? :) "If this be true then is it sin or our lack of belief in Christ Jesus as our savior that causes us to be condemned?" Sin. By the way, rejection of Jesus would be a sin as well. However, long before the Christ-hater rejects Jesus, she has sinned and deserves hell. "Joe I might add I do not enjoy or appreciate what I read to be accusations." I am not wanting you to read them as such. What I am hoping you will see are the serious theological implications of giving hope to those who have never heard the gospel. As I stated before, why in the world should I evangelize if it could be seen as giving someone an opportunity to reject Jesus Christ and be condemned? I have no doubt of your righteous standing with God, Ed. I have no doubt of your desire to honor Him. However, that does not make us incapable of error. And like I have said several times, there is not one sentence of Scripture that gives anyone hope outside of the proclamation of the gospel, and many, many passages which attest to them being without excuse and in need of hearing the message in order to be saved. We are not "in the dark" on such matters, as you keep saying; on the contrary, much biblical light is shed on the issue. If you are even possibly correct, then most of the passages I have been citing in our exchange are meaningless. I am open to correction, Ed; but you are going to have to do a lot more than imply that I am claiming omniscience in order to get me to see my error. Enjoy the Lord's Day. --Joe! |
