Bible Note: Dear Bowes, Oh, my... your second post brings up so much! Quickly, now, as I must prepare for my class tomorrow night. I'm sure your intentions were the very best! I apologize for being such a quibbler! I'm happy you are on the forum and look forward to your continued contributions! It is the "fruit" of the Spirit, not the "fruits." When the Holy Spirit grants the fruit, it is comprised of all these things. Not pieces of them. You are right at least in one sense, people always do everything in an effort for greater happiness. I read a quote by CS Lewis to that effect today. (He said it even applied to those that commit suicide.) I still affirm that love of God is a consequence of regeneration. But you are also right that God tends to encourage His own with the benefits of salvation. However, in evangelism we must always emphasize the "vinegar of the law" before the "healing wine of the gospel" can be applied. Thank you for your time on this thread. In Him, Doc |
