AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 22:2 God said, "Take now your son, your only son [of promise], whom you love, Isaac, and go to the region of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you." |
Subject: Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son |
Bible Note: Hi John, Sorry but I must have misunderstood you. I thought you said: "So even if God had allowed Abraham to kill his son, (and that is just speculation) it would have been a righteous act, and not a sin." Remember John the word allowed is a weak word - God commanded Abraham to kill his son. Genesis 22:2 "...Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering..." This is opposed to God's Word in James. James 1:13 "...for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:" Seems to me that either killing your son is evil or it is not. If it is not then it is not evil to kill you son today. (And I of course think that it is) If it is evil then we have a problem with James 1 and Genesis 22. No one here has offered an explanation as of yet for the proper understanding of these two passages. (Me included). (smile) |
