641 | What spiritual gifts could Paul give? | Rom 1:11 | prayon | 6804
Although I could not find any direct answer to your question I believe that Paul was able to share his gift of ministering. He could also encourage them with his gift of faith as well as being encouraged by theirs. He could also help them understand the gift of the Holy Spirit that was given to them. prayon
642 | Why worship carved images? | Rom 1:23 | prayon | 6803
Idolatry begins when people start rejecting what they know about God. When this happens then they start looking to self as the center of the universe instead of God. They then start making images or gods that are a convienient projection of their own selfishness. Idolaters worship the things made instead of the maker. This could happen because they didn't agree with God's plan or because they think they know better than God. One thing is for sure - it will happen when people allow Satan to put his blinders on them instead of relying totally on God. |

643 | Is Practicing homosexual Behavior a Sin? | Rom 1:24 | prayon | 75396
Greetings footprints, The bible is the infalible word of God. It states that "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination." If the bible is truly infalible then it is an abomination (which is one of the strongest negative words used in the bible). Those who preach otherwise are calling the bible fallible. Matt 5:17 tells us that Jesus said He did not come to abolish the laws of Moses but to fulfill them. Since Leviticus is found in the first 5 books of the bible known as the Laws of Moses then Lev. 18:22 must be still in effect and therefore any homosexuality is a sin against God. prayon |

644 | Differences in meaning of Romans 2:12 ? | Rom 2:12 | prayon | 165745
Greetings and welcome to the forum! First let me say that for new Christians I like to recommend the God's Word translation. It is much easier to understand or at least to refer to when you are reading another version and don't understand what you are reading. As for Romas 2:12: John Gills Exposition on the Bible puts it this way " For as many as have sinned without law,.... This is an instance of the strict justice of God, and proves him to be no respecter of persons; for the Gentiles, who were "without law", the written law of Moses, not without the law of nature in their breasts, nor without some civil laws and statutes of their own; inasmuch as they "sinned" against the God of nature, and the law and light of nature". There are many people who have never heard the Word of Jesus and do not know His laws. They shall be judged on more or less their morals and how they conducted themselves. On the other hand those who have had access to the Word and God's laws will be held accountable for their greater knowledge. In other words we are not held accountable for God's laws that we do not know. We will be judged on our hearts. However, if we have heard the law we will be held in higher accountability. prayon |

645 | Romans 5 What is Paul saying | Rom 5:13 | prayon | 141367
Greetings tgc, God did hold people accountable for their sins. What Paul was referring to in verse 13 was that before Moses received the laws from God there was no strict accounting of their specific points of their violations. But even without the law death was universal because their can be no forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood. Hope this helps. prayon |

646 | Is iT possible to live without sin? | Rom 6:2 | prayon | 23618
Greetings! No, we can not live without sin. Romans 3:23 states that we all fall short of the glory of God. Since until we reach heaven we all live in fleshly bodies we will succumb to certain fleshly desires. I don't believe in "entire sanctification" as Sir Pent mentioned. The only time that that would be possible in my opinion is after we reach heaven. Until then we must all pray and ask forgiveness for one thing or another. Psalm 143:2b states that no one apart from God is perfect, and to be sin free would be to be perfect. prayon

648 | what happens | Rom 6:3 | prayon | 90645
Greetings and welcome to the forum! Our God is a God of forgiveness. There is not one person who was baptized that does not sin. Jesus said that when you repent of that sin then He will remember it no more (Heb 8:12), which is kind of hard to fathom. Someone once gave me an example that helped though. Imagine that when you ask for forgiveness your sin becomes a fish in the sea, Jesus (the fisherman) comes walking along but He can not go after that sin because the sign says no fishing. Another scripture is Psa 103:12: "As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us" (NKJ) Hope this helps. prayon |

651 | Are we bound by OT Laws? | Rom 6:14 | prayon | 72679
Greetings IHH and welcome to the forum, In Matt 22:37-39 Jesus gives us the two greatest commandments: Love the Lord God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind and Love your neighbor as yourself. If you obey these two commandments then you will be obeying the 10 commandments. All commandments are encompassed in these 2 commandments. The other main OT laws were given in the book of Leviticus. The majority of them had to do with sacrifices. We were released from these sacrifices when Jesus became the final sacrifice for our sins. Other OT laws included laws that boiled down to using handwashing to not spread germs. Therefore, whether we are bound by the OT laws are basically mute since Jesus reinerated them while He was on earth in the NT. If you have questions about other laws in the OT that you are questioning please let me know and I will answer them for you. prayon |

652 | Explain Romans chapter 7 | Rom 7:1 | prayon | 124827
Greetings ador53 and welcome to the forum, Ub Chapter 7 Paul realizes that his readers will have many questions about how the law relates to them and their faith, He gives a detailed explanation of what it means to not be under the law but under grace. He teaches that the law: 1 - can not any longer condemn a believer (7:1-6) 2 - it convicts both believers and unbelievers of sin (7:7-13) 3 - it can not deliever a believer from sin (7:14-25) 4 - believers who walk in the Spirit can fulfill the law (8:1-4) (McArthur Study Bible) Hope this helps. prayon |

654 | Do All Things Work Together For Good? | Rom 8:28 | prayon | 11285
Steve, I can also give you a personal testimony. I was a victim of spouse abuse, mental, emotional, and physical. After I was out I saw how God took a bad thing and made good come out of it. I have helped quite a few women get out of the same situation I was in. Who knows if one of them would eventually been killed. God does take the bad and use it for good. Now I want to go in another direction. Sometimes God takes people to be merciful to them. You never know what that person might of gone through if they had not died. Suppose that young child would of grown up there could of been something horrible that would of happened to them that God kept from happening. The doctors could of learned something from that woman that will be able to help them treat others in the future. We never know what the future could of been for those people. |

655 | Mal. 3:10 | Rom 8:32 | prayon | 127686
Greetings, Some people believed that tithing started with the Law of Moses in the old covenant however this is not the case, The bible says that Abraham paid tithes (Gen 14:18-21) therefore tithing was not under the law of the OT. In the chapter about tithing in Malache (3) people often fail to read or just plain ignore verse 6 that says "I, the LORD, never change." After saying this He continues on to say that if you do not tithe you are robbing Him. Tithing was not done away with when the new covenant came into being. We are all required to pay 10 percent of our gross income. 1Cor 19:13-14 says "Don't you realize that those who work at the temple get their food from the temple? Don't those who help at the altar get a share of what is on the altar? In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who spread the Good News should earn their living from the Good News". The priests in the OT lived off of the tithes of the people, the same as they should do today. If you have not been paying your tithes it is the same as any other sin - you repent (change the way you think and act) and God will forgive you and you can start fresh to be obedient. Hope this helps. prayon |

657 | Whats up with Judgement, calvinists plz? | Rom 9:21 | prayon | 61372
I, too, recognize that you are new to the forum and welcome to it, I too, would strongly suggest that you use the Search feature and type in Calvinism. The reasoning behind my suggestion is this: The debates on Calvinism have been and, very unforunately for the general good of this forum, continue to be hashed and rehashed over and over to the point of becoming ridiculously repetitive and hence unproductive. Debates on the so-called "5 Points" (TULIP) of Calvinism have waged for centuries among seasoned and learned theologians and have for the most part failed to be resolved. There is no reason to believe that we of the forum, most of whom could not meet the criteria to be called seasoned and learned theologians, will be able to effect any meaningful consensus either. prayon

659 | How can i keep my faith running on high? | Rom 10:17 | prayon | 18616
Dear Kent, I am sure that all of us have been through that at one time or another. It helps me, when I feel like that, to meditate or list all the awesome things God has done for unworthy people in the bible. For example Paul (or Saul). He was definetly lacking in the love of Christ category but yet look what God did for him and how God used him. Think about (or list) all the blessings God has heaped on you. How can we loose our faith in a God that has done so much for us? God has brought all of us a mighty long way! Also see Ps. 40:2,3. As for putting the devil under your feet, Resist the devil and he will flee, (James 4:7) Remember also Eph. 6:12-13 - "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood....". prayon |

660 | Where does it tell us not to sin? | Rom 12:1 | prayon | 91351
Greetings kingi, The whole bible tells us not to sin. To tell you where a particular verse is I would need to know what type of sin you want a verse for. It is true that Jesus will forgive you for your sins, but in order to be forgiven you must be repentent (change the way you think and act) of the sin you committed. If you continue to commit that sin then you are not repentent and not forgiven. Romans 12:1 tells us that we are to present or surrender our bodies as a living sacrifice. This means that we must put away our old ways and take on the ways of Christ. Rom 12:2 says "Don't become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants-what is good, pleasing, and perfect." If we continue in sin we are none of these. prayon |
