722 | is this detramental to salvation | 2 Cor 13:14 | prayon | 112978
Greetings! God gave us His son as a sacrifice for our sins. He made Him human so that He could die for us. We are to pray to God the Father in Jesus name. No where in the bible does it tell us to pray to Jesus. There are two areas of prayer. The first one is the Formal side of prayer or the business side. This is conducting spiritual transactions or business with God through prayer (1Cor 3:9). The other side is the informal side of prayer or the nonbusiness side. This is fellowshipping with God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. Joh 16:23 When that day comes, you won't ask me any more questions. I can guarantee this truth: If you ask the Father for anything in my name, he will give it to you. Eph 5:20 Always thank God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Phi 4:6 Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. Col 1:3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, in our prayers for you. Hope this clears it up for you. prayon |

723 | History of the Book of Galatians. | Galatians | prayon | 47974
Galations was written by Paul about 49 AD from Antioch. It was written to the churches in southern Galatia founded on Paul's first missionary journey. The book of Galations is the charter of Christian freedom. Paul proclaims the liberty in Christ - freedom from the law, and the power of sin to serve Jesus Christ. Many of the first converts and early leaders in the church were Jewish. These Jewish Christians proclaimed Christ as their Savior, but they found confusion in being strict Jews who were brought up following the law and being free now in Jesus Christ. There were many arguments over where the law stopped and this freedom began. There were also controversy over whether Gentiles must first become Jewish proselytes and submit to the Mosaic law before they could become Christians. The Jewish believers could not understand how the Gentiles fit into the picture and how they could be going to heaven. Galations was written to put an end to all the false teachings that was undermining the NT doctrine of justifacation by faith and not by works. Hope this helps. prayon |

724 | INTHE BIBLE THE BOOK OF GALATIANS GIVE | Galatians | prayon | 50873
Greetings, the book of Galations is the letter Paul wrote to the Galations to refute the Judaizers (who taught that the Gentile believers must obey the Jewish law in order to be saved) and to call believers back to the pure gospel. The theme of the entire book is that Christians are saved by grace. Galations is called the charter of Christian freedom by some. In the letter Paul proclaims the reality of our liberty in Christ - freedom from the law and the power of sin to serve out living Lord. prayon |

726 | What is a generatonal curse? | Gal 1:9 | prayon | 11520
Kadadya, I would like to add this to the other replies: Spiritual warfare is something I to believe in and practice. John 17 is an entire chapter devoted to prayer. From it we learn that the world is a tremendous battleground where the forces under Satan's power and those under God's authority are at war. Satan and his forces are motivated buy bitter hatred for Christ and his forces. 2Corinthians 10:3 states "we do not wage war according to human standards". Here Christ is telling us that we are to wage war in the spiritual aspect. Verse 4 goes on to say that "the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but they have a divine power to destroy strongholds (including generation curses). We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle raised up against the knowledge of God. Spiritual warfare is dangerous as you say, but, we must wage warfare against Satan not only because the bible tells us to but also to protect our friends and loved ones. If you would like the name of some good books on spiritual warfare e me and let me know I would be happy to suggest a few. prayon |

727 | What's the importance of Old Testament? | Gal 3:24 | prayon | 40942
Jclt2, I would like to add that in order to understand why things were like they were in the New Testament you must have a knowledge of the Old Testament. For example, why was Christ crucified, why must there be a blood sacrifice? Why certain things were as they were have their roots in the Old Testament. prayon |

728 | How do we do the How? | Gal 5:16 | prayon | 4016
"Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh". The HOW is through the strength of the Holy Spirit. We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us (Phil 4:13). To walk by the Spirit is living each day controlled and guided by the Holy Spirit. Be directed by His promptings. When we walk a Godly walk we are walking with the Spirit. And if you feel you might be unable to do this remember 1Cor 10:13 say that God will not test us beyond what we can endure. Does this answer you question? prayon
729 | What does it mean? | Gal 6:1 | prayon | 7818
Restore neans to make something useful again when it has been broken or damaged. In these verses Paul is using it to refer to someone who is an alleged sinner. Here the spiritual are exhorted to bring the brother back to his rightful place of fellowship in the body. This is to be done in a spirit of meekness not in an attitude of vain glory or a "better than thou" attitude. We are called to restore the gentleness to that person that sin takes away. prayon

731 | My wife is cursed,what can I do? | Ephesians | prayon | 34529
Greetings, One thing you can do for her is let her see the love of Christ that lives in you. Be an example of how rewarding acceptance of Jesus and living for Him can be. Many have come to Christ because of how a Christian carried themselves. Pour your love out on her. I suggest that you go to www.gospelcom.net/cdp/ for additional ways that you can help your wife. The site is called Christian Depression pages and is "a compassionate source of information for Christians with depression and those caring for them". Depression is not a "state of mind" but can be a very debilitating disease process involving a chemical imbalance. Also continue to pray for her, stand in the gap for her and know that Christ works all things together for the good. If I can be of further assistance concerning the depression feel free to e mail me. I have a lot of knowledge in that area. prayon |

732 | introduction to ephesians | Ephesians | prayon | 47820
Greetings chandren, Ephesians was written to encourage and strengthen the believers in Ephesus in their Christian faith and to remind believers of their immeasurable blessing in Jesus Christ, and not only to be thankful for those blessings, but also to live a life that is worthy of them. Ephesus was a important political, educational, and commercial center. It was one of the largest cities in the Mediterranean world during NT times. Its 1/4 to 1/2 million population included had its share of great preachers. Ephesus was the capital Roman province of Asia (Asia Minor, modern Turkey). It is best known for its magnificent temple of Artemis, or Diana, one the 7 wonders of the ancient world. The letter of Ephesians explains the nature and purpose of the church. Church is not meant to be a four walled building but instead the church of Jesus Christ is the people who love Christ and are committed to serve Him. Several pictures of the church are presented: body, temple, nystery, new man, bride, and soldier. The letter of Ephesians became a circular letter hat was widely ditstributed to many of the early churches. Ephesians was written about 60 AD by Paul from Rome during Paul's imprisonment there. The church at Ephesus was one of the most prominent of the churches established in about 53 AD during one of Paul's couragious journeys. It is believed that the gospel was first brought to Ephesus by Pricilla and Aquilla who were left there by Paul on his second missionary journey and then was more firmly established by Paul on his third missionary journey (Acts 19). The church was pastored by Paul for about 3 years. After Paul left Timothy pastored the church for about a year and a half, primarily encountering the false teaching of a few influential men, such as Hymenaeus and Alexander, who were probably elders in the congregation there. Because of these men, the church was plagued by "fables and endless genealogies" (1:4) and by such ascetic and unscriptural ideas as the forbidding of marriage and abstaining from certain foods. Although those false teachers did not rightly understand Scripture, they propounded their ungodly interpretations with confidence, which produced in the church harmful dissputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. The letter was not written to confront any heresy or problem in the churches in the area. Paul had spent over 3 years with the Ephesian church and as a result he was very close to them. The first 3 chapters are theological, emphasizing NT doctrine whereas the last 3 chapters are practical and focus on Christian behavior. Hope this helps, prayon |

733 | What about an abusif husband? | Ephesians | prayon | 93607
Greetings paulie and welcome to the forum, Eph 5:21 says that a husband and wife should "be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ". This is talking of a godly relationship not one where one party is abusive to the other. Christ's relationship to the church was one of servanthood of all who followed Him and He gave Himself up for them. Never did He order people around, threaten, hit or frighten them. Another scripture Col 3:19 says that husbands are to love their wives and do not be harsh with them. If the man is not fulfilling his responsibility or obligation as a husband the wife is not obligated to be a dorrmat for him. Jesus does not expect a woman to stay and tolerate the abuse. The wife's obligation is to provide for her safety and the safety of the children. In any sort of abuse, whether it be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, the children are subjected to that abuse and will pay the price later in life if not at the present. In addition if the abuse cycle is not ended it will continue through the children to their spouses. It is better to remove them from the abuse rather than to allow them to be harmed. She is accountable to God for her children and the way they are raised. I am assuming that since this is a 15 year marriage that the children are older children. Children are vulnerable. They will desperately need counceling too. Nothing creates anger in children as quickly as abuse by parents or parent to parent abuse. Abuse in any form is a vicious cycle that needs to be stopped. Encourage this woman to seek Christian counceling. If intuitively she does not want to speak to her own pastor then there is probably good reason. If the pastor encourages her to be a "better wife" or to stay where she is at or even to lift up the abuse to the Lord (remaining where she is) then this person will not be a good resource for her. Remember ministers ususally have not received any formal training on the subject and have no comprehension about what she is going through. It is a good idea to contact a shelter for abused women. They will have different names for people who will be able to help. May God Give this woman courage and strength in her time of trial. prayon |

735 | Believing in the Bible and E.T.'s | Eph 2:2 | prayon | 2656
God is so awesome. I read or learn something and the next day there is a question about it posted. The following comes from "The End Time Occult Invasion: Entertaining Spirits Unaware", a book that exposes many of the subtle deceptions of the evil one and provides tools to effectively combat the encroachment of the New Age and Occult into our lives and home. Reports of visitors from other worlds are quite common in our society today. Reports have come from rural areas to large cities. Although credibility is questionable in some cases more than 1 astronaut has reported seeing alien craft while in space. Entire city populations have witnessed UFO events that could not be explained. It is hard not to believe in something that many, many people have been an eye witness to. Although I am unaware of any scriptures pertaining to E.T.'s and UFO's scripture does remind us that the devil IS the prince of the power of the air (Eph 2:2) and god of this world (2Cor 4:4). Remember, too, that there are instances throughout scripture that angels have appeared and operated in the physical realm. It is also interesting to note that radars have never detected any UFO's coming INTO our atmosphere although they have been tracked many times while here. When the authors of this book examined UFO and alien phenomenon from a biblical and New Age point of view there were striking parallels. First if you want to read any books on aliens you must go to the occult section of the library. This shows that aliens are closely linked with the occult. Most New Agers believe that aliens have chosen to enlighten them to communicate with them due to their spiritual "enlightenment. The out growth of the UFO phenomomen doctrinally lines up with the world of the occult - not with God's word. If for no other reason, this is a good reason to believe that aliens are nothing more than demons in disguise weaving a web to attract millions today. Their is also, according to the authors Eric Barger and David Benoit, indeed reason to believe that UFO's originate from another dimension than from another planet. In synopsis I believe that it is not against the bible to believe in aliens. We must remember that Satan will and does use many means to deceive his prey. He is the father of lies and illusion. I hope this helps some. |

736 | Has Anyone Changed His Mind? | Eph 2:8 | prayon | 51276
Greetings Hank! No, I have not changed my mind. Salvation is by grace, not by works, or how/when you are baptized. To forgive all of our sins God must have to have mercy or He would give up on some of us. Baptism is something we do and NOTHING we can do can give us salvation except to accept Jesus Christ as our savior. prayon
