NASB | Galatians 5:16 ¶ But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 5:16 ¶ But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. |
Bible Question:
Paul tells believers by what means (how) they can avoid carrying out the desires of the flesh, namely, by walking by the Spirit. But I don't remember hearing an explanation of this verse that didn't sound like a buch of religious, pious mumbo-jumbo. Does anybody out there want to take a shot at explaning how to walk by the Spirit (how do we do the How)? Please be biblical and sensible. |
Bible Answer: "Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh". The HOW is through the strength of the Holy Spirit. We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us (Phil 4:13). To walk by the Spirit is living each day controlled and guided by the Holy Spirit. Be directed by His promptings. When we walk a Godly walk we are walking with the Spirit. And if you feel you might be unable to do this remember 1Cor 10:13 say that God will not test us beyond what we can endure.
