NASB | Galatians 5:16 ¶ But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 5:16 ¶ But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. |
Bible Question:
Paul tells believers by what means (how) they can avoid carrying out the desires of the flesh, namely, by walking by the Spirit. But I don't remember hearing an explanation of this verse that didn't sound like a buch of religious, pious mumbo-jumbo. Does anybody out there want to take a shot at explaning how to walk by the Spirit (how do we do the How)? Please be biblical and sensible. |
Bible Answer: If one is walking in the Spirit he will be the bearing the fruit of the Spirit as set forth in Gal.5:22-23. How does one walk in the Spirit? By walking in the light of the Law of Christ-which is that we are to love God and our neighbor. I have in my library Puritan treatises on what it means to walk with God-if you want some titles e-mail me. |
